It was just after the rain, the rain drops still visible on the leaves, the sun playing the tantalizing game of hide and seek, the freshness in the air , the green appearing more green…. What more can one ask for on a leisurely road trip from Wayanad to Mudumalai…It’s a Sunday. Not much traffic on the road save for a few cars. Usually the stretch from Gudalur to Mudumalai is full of vehicles, but after the closing down of many resorts around Masinagudi, the traffic has come down considerably. As we entered the forest area, we opened the car windows to let in fresh air and the smell of the forest. The sun stopped the game of hide and seek behind the clouds and the rain drops on the leaves glistened. Then out of the blue came the sound of birds accompanied by sight of the feathered inhabitants of planet earth flying around. We stopped the car and feasted our eyes and ears.
